This is Aroma Mama’s eighth blog income report! This report shows November 2017 blog stats, blog income, and expenses, how I made my income, what I learned, and my goals for December 2017.
This is my blog income report introduction. If you have read why I write my blog income reports and how I started monetizing my blog before, go ahead and start reading the blog stats and what I learned this month! 😉
I went into blogging being acutely aware that it could take a very long time before I made a penny back for my time and expenses. I blog because I love to help people and I have a further reach by having a blog. Monetizing my blog is a goal of mine so I can continue to help people reach their health and wellness goals and help bloggers to succeed with their blogs while I still cover my operating expenses and eventually financially contribute to my family.
My Reasons for Writing My Blog Income Reports
My original reason for posting my blog income reports was because I was encouraged to start a blog by reading blog income reports. I made a decision to start my blog income reports from the very beginning. I wanted to pay it forward and help others who are thinking of starting a blog. Blog income reports provide me so much value and inspiration!
Now, I read, even more, blog income reports than I used to because I still find them so helpful and inspirational. Actually, I find them so helpful that I have a Pinterest board called Blog Income Reports and a group board called We Love Blog Income Reports for income reports and blogging posts.
Blog income reports help bloggers to see other blogs income and expenses, strategies and goals, and resources and tools bloggers like to use and find helpful. On a practical note, because my blog is an open book, my blog income reports save me a lot of time answering emails about what tools and resources I use for my blog. Also, the affiliate links help to fund the tools I buy for my website so that I can continue to help people improve their quality of life by writing about natural health and wellness.
My final reason to post my blog income report is to keep myself accountable. I was a nurse for a long time and still like to chart meticulously. I want my income reports to be an accurate picture of “health” for my blog, good or bad. This will allow me to see more clearly where my blog needs to improve.
My hope is that my blog income report is not a cause for comparison, but rather, to get at least one takeaway that can benefit every blogger reading this. I am very sincere, honest, and humbled to share all of my personal blog information, and it’s not always easy. Blogs take time to grow so my numbers aren’t anything special. I do my best to write my income report in a way that teaches bloggers everything I’ve learned along my blogging journey so far and what resources I’ve found.
My blog income reports have a lot of value especially for new bloggers to see how I work and advance my blog, so for now, I will continue to write and publish them. I love to share what I learn because I have a passion for helping people succeed in all areas of their life!
How I Got Started with Monetizing My Blog
I took a course for new bloggers called Building a Framework. During the course, I learned the basics of how to make income from blogging. I decided to start monetizing my blog through affiliate marketing. My first affiliate was Amazon because they are a good fit for any niche. Then, I began to search for affiliate programs for companies that I know and love.
Soon after launching my blog I took a popular course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing because other bloggers so highly recommended it and I knew there was still so much I needed to learn to be able to monetize my blog successfully. This course was a game changer for me and was how I have been able to monetize my blog since my first month of blogging! I applied the lessons as I went through the course and started to see my affiliate sales come in! I highly recommend Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing to everyone that wants to monetize their blog! The course will pay for itself and so much more.
Affiliate marketing allows new bloggers to make an income from blogging right away which helps to pay for their blog start-up expenses. It takes time to build up page views to make a decent income from ads. A blogger needs to get to know their readers and have an engaged community to be to create a product for them and have a successful launch. Networking with brands to get sponsored posts can take time as well and they are a lot of work, so I’ve heard. This is why I choose to make affiliate marketing my main stream of income until I can create a product.
Okay, now for the fun part!

Review of November Goals
Finish the Instagram course that I started in October. Write a blog post each week including several gift guides. Focus on holiday pinning in Pinterest with the strategies I learned from Pinning Perfect.
I’m so happy I met my goals for November and more! Here’s a little more about what I was up to this past month.
What I Learned
I took a Content Creation Challenge with Emily at My Adaptable Career. In this challenge, I learned how to create three to four posts in a week. I’ve been wanting to get a few months ahead of blog posts since I attended the ConvertKit conference last summer. Professional bloggers at the conference shared that they stay ahead in content by a month and some even three or six months, and I’ve been inspired to do this ever since. Now, I have the formula to finally get ahead in scheduling my content and I’m so excited about this!
Spoiler alert! Implementing this is one my December goals so I can start getting three months ahead with scheduled content. This has become a priority for me since I’m pregnant! I want to make it a practice of being ahead in blog posts so I can continue to have new posts published when the baby is born this summer.
Pinterest Improvement Master Plan (P.I.M.P.)
I took a new Pinterest course called Pinterest Improvement Master Plan. The course teaches advanced strategies for Pinterest but would be helpful for a blogger at any level. I recommend this course for anyone that is actively trying to grow their traffic from Pinterest. Jennifer teaches strategies that I haven’t heard of from any other Pinterest course creator. This course helped me to improve my reach from 143K to 199K this past month since implementing the advanced Pinterest strategies taught in P.I.M.P..
I finished an Instagram course called Instamazing: Passions to Profits. The course covered how to grow an Instagram platform and gain sponsors through Instagram. It was a great course, but I realized that I don’t have time to focus on growing Instagram right now since my focus is still on Pinterest traffic. Actively growing a social media platform takes a lot of time and effort for a solopreneur. Focusing on one at a time is one of the best pieces of advice someone has given me.
Plan for 2018
I planned all my blog posts for 2018 and made a business plan! I was motivated to do this after listening to Amy Porterfield’s podcast episode on How to Create Your Promotional Calendar. This is a great free resource for bloggers.
As a result of planning for 2018, I’m going to publish my income reports on the first Tuesday of the month going forward instead of the first of the month. Tuesday is when I post my weekly blog post so I want to stay consistent to posting on Tuesdays.
Billionaire Blog Club
I was introduced to the Billionaire Blog Club this past month. I opted in for The 12 Day Blogging Bootcamp free resource which is a sales funnel for the Billionaire Blog Club. It’s packed with helpful information to make a blog a profitable business. I became a member of the Billionaire Blog Club and it’s packed with even more awesome information! I can’t wait to go through the Pinterest and SEO courses in the BBC! What excites me the most is that Paul Scrivens has built over 10 profitable blogs and is teaching the Billionaire Blog Club members the roadmap to success from all of his gained experience with blogs in different niches.
Free 2018 Blog Planner (for a limited time)
My friend, Eva, created a 2018 blog planner for bloggers and she did an amazing job! It’s just what I wanted for a planner and it’s free for a limited time!
Goals for December
- I will work a minimum of six hours a day. I will achieve this by keeping track of my blogging work time.
- I will have January’s blog posts completed and scheduled. I will achieve this by batch writing.
- I will focus on taking as many courses as I can. I will achieve this by setting aside all of my work time to courses outside of writing and Pinterest.
I truly appreciate the income that affiliate links bring in as it helps to fund the blog tools I use and courses I take to keep Aroma Mama going.
I would like to thank the following bloggers that used my affiliate links in November:
Beth @ Natural Mama Cafe
Eva @ Happy Blogging Mom
Liz @ The Art of Small Steps
Carolin @ Mom Can Do This
LeeAnn @ My Veteran Woman Life
